Dublin-based Coroflo was today announced the winner of the ESB Spark of Genius Award at the Web Summit in Lisbon, taking home the €25,000 cash prize.
Coroflo has developed a revolutionary breastfeeding assistance monitoring system and app that helps mothers monitor the milk flow to their baby. This then allows the mother to see details of how much breast milk their baby has consumed each time they feed.
The success comes just months after the startup was also crowned the winner of Richard Branson’s Virgin Media Business Voom Tour mini-pitch competition at TechConnect Live.
The company, which was founded less than six months ago, has now been valued at €4 million following recent investments.
Coroflo had some stiff competition in the ESB Spark of Genuis competition. Other finalists included Electrical Analytics, a startup that provides visibility to power grid operators and large power consumers, so that they can monitor their electrical assets through an innovative retrofit device; and Mobility Mojo, which acts like TripAdvisor but with a focus on accessibility and provides detailed information for users on the level of accessibility in hotels, restaurants, pubs, tourist attractions, festivals, transport and parking.
