Don’t Miss Dublin: Geolocation, Learning To Code & The Neverending Story

Events Don't Miss Dublin

It might be that quiet time of year when everyone’s on holiday, but there’s still networking, coding and some nostalgic fun to be had in Dublin this week.

Films You’d Love Your Kids to See, Light House Cinema, 8 July – 31 August

The ’80s were a golden time for children’s cinema, all spunky kids, alien visitors and nightmarish goblin puppets. If you grew up watching The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Stand By Me and the Indiana Jones movies, then this screening series at Smithfield’s Light House cinema is a must.

CodeAcademy First Meetup, location TBC, 9th July

The online learning hub stages its first event in Dublin – if you’re a coding newbie and haven’t looked into which language to start with, or have started on the online tutorials but could use some IRL support, then this meetup might just change your life. For the better, we stress.

Demystifying iBeacons, Science Gallery Dublin, 14th July

Run by Dublin’s XCake mobile apps group, this developers’ gathering will focus on iBeacons, a location technology using Bluetooth and standardised by Apple, which allows transmitters to broadcast to nearby phones and tablets any time they’re in close proximity – very useful for retailers and mobile marketing types.

In the meantime: a little something to get you in the mood:
